Testimonials From BirD-elicious Contest Winners Michelle,
Being the first contest winner of your free bird consultation I have to say I am very impressed. It was hard to imagine anyone being able to tell me anything that would help my bird Leah, but I am amazed already at what the difference has made even using just a few of your ideas so far.
I have slowly been following your suggestions and she's beyond a doubt, a happier little girl. I enjoyed the consultation and was grateful for the generous amount of time you spent with me over the phone. You made me feel comfortable right away and I couldn't wait to get started on making those changes. Some were so easy to do and some are litterally going to be possitive life changes for me and all my birds. Before I talked to you I was feeling overwhelmed with responsibility and wondering how I would keep the 11 birds that own me healthy and happy for the remainder of their lives without losing my sanity, but I felt such relief when you offered advice in that area that took a great deal of weight off of my shoulder instantly.
There's just no way to thank you enough for the knowledge you have shared with me.
Thanks and keep up the great work!
Lynne Watts
Michelle,
I meant to tell you that I tried the feather touching thing on Kermit my hahns macaw. He's never been touched by anyone except for grooming and he came from a rescue. When he was very young, he had been put near a cockatoo while in his cage. The cockatoo bit half his upper and lower beak off, so he needs beak work the rest of his life. Not sure why he hadn't been handled, but it took him several months before he would leave his cage once he got here.
Anyway, I grabbed one of his long tail feathers he had just molted out the other day and while he was on his play stand, I reached out and touched his chest area with it. He flinched slightly at first and then just sat there and was loving it. He is one to run away if you even look at him or talk to him, so he had every oportunity, but he just stayed right there. I never would have tried this if you hadn't suggested it for my grey so wanted to let ya know it even worked for Kermit.
Thanks so much
Lynne Watts

Thank You Ottawa Parrot Club, Ottowa Canada Bogart (wild caught) had not been handled, although very loved and very well taken care of he was lacking in one on one touching except through his cage until this day when many people handled him with confidence and gave him many good head scratches. The day was quite taxing on him and he slept much the next day, but he was a great sport, Thank you Bogart!
More pictures and testimonials coming soon! The first time I met Michelle was October 2004 in Hamilton Ontario at the Canadian Parrot Conference hosted by Mark Hagen. I found her to be a captivating speaker and very interactive. Her lectures were never dry or boring. Her "circle of knowledge" demonstration was one of the highlights of the conference. Everyone got to participate, relate and comprehend how a parrot would feel from the perspective of the parrot, which is no easy task. It was then, that I knew I had to get Michelle to visit our club of 300+ members.
In September 2005 I was honored as the Events Coordinator to present Michelle Karras to the Ottawa Parrot Club. We had our highest attendance for the entire year the day Michelle lectured. People drove hours to come to listen to her. ((up to 4 hours away)) Michelle gave two lectures. The first was on biting and respect, the second was the "circle of knowledge".
To this day I still get members telling me how much they enjoyed and learned from Michelle's lecture. We had members from various knowledge and experience levels laughing and asking questions. It's such a pleasure to listen to someone who can combine humour with education.
It's been three months since Michelle visited our club, and members are still talking about how her lecture has helped them have a better and closer relationship with their feathered family members.

Michelle:
First of all I would like to say how much I enjoyed Sunday's presentation and activities.
I have five parrots, one of which is a 13 year old african grey named Ringo. He had been in a cage for 3 years on a pure seed diet with one bell for a toy before he came to us. We have made some progress. He now has a proper cage with lots of toys and seems happy although he still plucks (yes he has had full testing and nothing medical is wrong now)
My question is this: I was overwhelmed with all of the information that you gave us and I feel I won't remember some of the key steps to give Ringo a more rewarding life.
Could you send me a hand out on what you spoke of in respect to proper steps with Ringo?
Also, thanks to you I now feel that I can gain the confidence to interact with Ringo in a positive happy manner. I admit to being intimidated and afraid of the bite but I was so impressed with your ways that I am starting slowly to try to do things "RESPECT"fully.
Once again, thank you for making the trip to Ottawa to help us gain knowledge,
Annette Bedor
Dear Annette,
Of course, I have sent you the handouts and I hope that they help you and Ringo continue to improve your relationship together.
